These Sterling Silver drop earrings are hand made, inspired by stormy days on the Cornish coast and finding beauty in amongst the 'grey.'
Each dome measures aprox 1.5cm (15mm) at it's widest point. The depth of the dome is aprox 0.4cm (4mm).
The inside of the domes have been treated with an oxidising treatment to blacken it, which has been lightly polished. The polishing process removes some of the colour and also gives it a sheen that changes the intensity of colour - depending on which direction you look at it, it looks various shades of grey and black, just like a stormy sky! Half of each concave dome is then textured again and small sections of the blackened, polished surface are hand engraved to reveal the silver - it's this that is representative of the ferocious sea. A small piece of sterling silver tube attaches to the back of the dome. A triangular style drop, with a brushed texture attaches through this tube, creating a contemporary style drop / dangly earring. The triangular drop measures aprox 1.5cm (15mm) tall and 0.5cm (5mm) wide, making the entire earring length aprox 2.9 cm (29mm).
The edge of the domes are flat, front facing and have been polished for contrast against the blackened insides. The earrings have a sterling silver ear post style attachment and scroll back. The back of the these drop earrings is finished with a brushed texture.
This unique design would make a great gift for anyone drawn to the coast and the sea, or who perhaps needs a little reminder that beauty can be found on the greyest of days... They complement so many looks and transition perfectly from day to night!
