This Sterling Silver pendant is inspired by stormy days on the Cornish coast and finding beauty in amongst the 'grey.'
This pendant is formed of a disc of Sterling Silver that's been shaped in to a dome. The dome measures aprox 2.3cm (23mm) at it's widest/tallest point. The depth if the dome is aprox 0.7cm (7mm).
The inside of the dome has been treated with an oxidising treatment to blacken it, which has been lightly polished. The polishing process removes some of the colour and also gives it a sheen that changes the intensity of colour - depending on which direction you look at it, it looks various shades of grey and black, just like a stormy sky! Half of the concave dome is then textured again and small sections of the blackened, polished surface are hand engraved to reveal the silver - it's this that is representative of the ferocious sea.
The edge of the dome is flat, front facing and has been polished for contrast against the inside of the blackened dome. The necklace is presented on a Belcher style, Sterling Silver, which is available in a choice of lengths. The chain attaches via a tubular style bail for a lovely contemporary look. The back of the dome and bale have both been finished with a brushed texture.
This unique design would make a great gift for anyone drawn to the coast and the sea, or who perhaps needs a little reminder that beauty can be found on the greyest of days...It complements so many looks and transitions perfectly from day to night, whether worn as a maxi, long style chain, or shorter.
