This Sterling Silver ring is inspired by stormy days on the Cornish coast and finding beauty in amongst the 'grey.'
The focal point of this ring is a disc of Sterling Silver that's been shaped in to a dome. Each dome measures aprox 1.1cm (11mm) at it's widest/tallest point. The depth of the dome is aprox 0.3cm (3mm) .
The inside of the dome has been treated with an oxidising treatment to blacken it, which has been lightly polished. The polishing process removes some of the colour and also gives it a sheen that changes the intensity of colour - depending on which direction you look at it, it looks various shades of grey and black, just like a stormy sky! Half of the concave dome is then textured again and small sections of the blackened, polished surface are hand engraved to reveal the silver - it's this that is representative of the ferocious sea.
The edge of the dome is flat, front facing and has been polished for contrast against the blackened inside. It is attached to a ring band made from an oval shaped wire that is made to your specific size. Both the band and the underside of the dome have been finished with a brushed texture.
This unique design would make a great gift for anyone drawn to the coast and the sea, or who perhaps needs a little reminder that beauty can be found on the greyest of days... It complements so many looks and transitions perfectly from day to night!
